With a new era of Call of Duty beginning this October 28, and a massive Open Beta starting tomorrow, September 16, Infinity Ward reveals an authentic, action-packed, finely-tuned, and fun-focused Modern Warfare II Multiplayer: Intel on Gunsmith, maps, modes, swimming, movement, vehicles, new equipment, Weapons Platforms, and much more.
Modern Warfare II is adding fan-favorite maps in Season 1, and those include Shoot House and Shipment. Both maps are "reimagined" for Modern Warfare II, Activision said. These are smaller maps with a lot of action, especially Shipment, which is one of Call of Duty's smallest maps.
Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 have finally taken the torch from Vanguard and Warzone 1 and started off with a bang! After two rather controversial years of Call of Duty, this year's game seems to have hit a chord with the communities' preferences. Although we already have a vast collection of guns, maps and game modes at our disposal, we're still curious to see what the new season has to offer.
In this article we will keep you up to date with everything you need to know about the next Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 season. Here you will find all official and unofficial news about upcoming weapons, maps, operators and more.
However, a large map inside Diego's room during the El Sin Nombre mission of Modern Warfare 2's campaign has been speculated to be a possible second map for Warzone 2.0. Geeky Pastimes guessed that the map, labeled as Las Almas, which is a city featured in parts of Modern Warfare 2's campaign, as well as the Guijarro and Mercado Las Almas multiplayer maps, could be a new Warzone map.
The Las Almas map bears a strong resemblance to the Caldera and Verdansk maps in terms of size and scale, and contains Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer layout areas, such as Santa Sena and Guijarro, inside the map. The Warzone 2.0 confirmed map of Al Mazrah also features locations from Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer and campaign modes, which could add weight to speculation that Las Almas may be the next Warzone map to come.
It's not uncommon for developers to reuse assets in gaming, and a quick fix of content could have been a reskinned Caldera or Verdansk map, however for Infinity Ward to go to the trouble of creating a detailed map like Las Almas hints that there may be more content to come. With less than two weeks to wait for the release of Warzone 2.0, players could be in store for two rotating maps on launch of season 1, although only an official announcement from Activision will confirm, or deny, this rumor.
The city of Al Mazrah has both high rises and modern buildings at its center. A place called Zarqwa Hydroelectric has renewable energy facilities. The marshlands were once home to a luxury resort that is now completely flooded due to rising river levels. Caves are in sight of a small village.
Atop the tallest mountain in Al Mazrah, several domed structures, including a destroyed one, are part of an old observatory. At the Al Sharim Pass, an old monastery and mausoleum overlook a modern village and zoo. The tallest hill contains several modernized buildings over the rest of the area, partially destroyed due to the elements and the war.
Modern Warfare 2 seems to be aiming to be bigger and better this year. Its focus on Ground War and other larger-scale modes with gigantic maps to accompany them is a sign the series is moving away from its smaller offerings and hoping to reach something similar to the Battlefield series.
Firstly, there is Mercado Las Almas. This map is set within a rural district of Mexico and forces players to play quite aggressively with its right corridors and intertwining layout in such a small space. There is still the opportunity to snipe in the main alley down the middle - something that was very tricky to do in maps such as Rust and Shipment - but for the most part, it works at being the current smallest map available.
The best game modes for quickly levelling weapons in Modern Warfare 2 have no kill limit, and take you to small maps. So Headquarters, which places you in a tightly packed arena with both teams with infinite spawns, no round ends, and tons of action worked best.
An exciting revelation for the title is making the rounds of social media and the players are ecstatic about the news. This news comes form popular COD leaker, TheGhostOfHope. In their latest tweet, the user has stated that Infinity Ward plans to release almost all the maps from the 2009 Modern Warfare title as post launch content for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 title. Check out the list of maps that were shown in the tweet below:
Although this is a rumour and players should consume this information with a grain of salt, it doesn't seem unlikely that Infinity Ward might have this plan in action. The previous Modern Warfare has been recently remastered and its maps have been too so introducing these maps in the upcoming MWII title is vert possible. Also, it seems that there will be no new COD title released in 2023, so releasing these maps as post launch content in 2023 seems like a decent plan for the developers.
This comes as fantastic news for the fans as the maps used in MWII are iconic to say the least and to get to play them in a 2022 title will be a dream come true. Having a large number of map options will also help the online gameplay feel more inclusive. Players are now wondering whether the maps will be provided as a free DLC or a paid one. They will just have to wait for an official announcement to know for sure.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2.0 Season One content is beginning to go live, including new multiplayer maps, weapons, operators and more. A key way to grab some extra free content within Call of Duty's live service is via the Battle Pass system, and Infinity Ward is doing things a little differently this time around.
Fans of the original MW2 will have to strap themselves in for a giant nostalgia trip with historic maps like Terminal, Highrise, and Quarry making their way onto the newest generation of consoles in Warzone 2, which makes them easy candidates for potential maps in MW2 multiplayer.
There are plenty of new game modes, maps, weapons, and more in Modern Warfare 2, but what about the classic Call of Duty Zombies mode, which has established itself as one of the more popular modes in the Call of Duty universe?
At launch, Warzone 2.0 features a desert-themed map titled Al Mazrah with 18 points of interest. Al Mazrah is used as the primary Battle Royale map, as well as an Exclusion Zone for DMZ. The map is larger compared to previous Battle Royale maps in Warzone, a la Verdansk and Caldera, and features more water-based areas, allowing players to take advantage of new swimming and underwater combat mechanics introduced in Modern Warfare II.[8]
Warzone 2.0 official launch is just a few weeks away now, and this time around, Call of Duty fans will be diving into a new map called Al Mazrah instead of Verdansk. Al Mazrah, the capital of the Republic of Adal, is a fusion of metropolitan and rural architecture rich in natural resources. In the latest announcement, Activision has confirmed that Al Mazrah is pretty massive and stated that their new battle royale playground is the biggest battle royale map they have ever made.
